A dental clinic in Derby is set to expand to help meet growing demand for treatment.
Blagreaves Dental Practice, located in Littleover, has received planning approval from Derby City Council to build a first-floor side extension.
The expansion comes as local access to NHS dental care continues to decline. According to a 2022 report, only 23% of adults in Derby were able to access NHS dentistry, a drop from 31% in 2019.
Blagreaves Dental Practice sits at the corner of Blagreaves Lane and Oaklands Avenue. The facility has staff parking at the front and a separate car park for patients at the rear.
Earlier this year, the practice submitted plans to extend its premises, citing limited space and a growing number of patients.
Planning documents state that the surgery is currently operating “at capacity” and that the new extension will “enhance patient experience” while also “future-proofing the site’s role as a vital community health resource.”
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) has contacted the dental practice for comment.
