PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Richard Rossi, a 101-year-old World War II veteran honored as a “Hero Among Us” by the Florida Panthers, is receiving free dental care thanks to the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund.
Rossi was reunited with two other veterans by WPTV anchor Mike Trim after being recognized during the Panthers’ Stanley Cup playoff home games. During the reunion planning, Trim connected Rossi with the nonprofit organization, which provides critical dental care to eligible veterans.
The Wounded Veterans Relief Fund quickly arranged an appointment for Rossi at USA Dental in Port St. Lucie, where he is now receiving comprehensive dental work, including fillings, at no cost.
Nick Cannon of the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund helped coordinate Rossi’s care and emphasized the organization’s mission. “We get our veterans in, we get them seen through our dental program and our amazing dental partners,” Cannon said. “We have over 300 partners statewide and growing every day. There is no bureaucracy. There is no red tape. We find the issue and fix it.”
According to the organization, 85% of military veterans are not eligible for VA dental care. The Wounded Veterans Relief Fund works to fill that gap, providing essential services to veterans in need.
Rossi is scheduled for another dental appointment this week.
