Coralville Hosting Annual IMOM Free Dental Clinic

The Iowa Mission of Mercy (I-MOM) is holding its annual free dental clinic in Coralville for the first time at the Hyatt Regency. Dr. Kobi Voshell is one of the dentists volunteering their time for the event, which begins Friday. It starts at 6:00 a.m., and patients are allowed to enter the clinic as long as supplies last. Organizers anticipate serving hundreds of patients over the course of the two-day event.

I-MOM is a statewide initiative dedicated to providing essential dental care to individuals who may not have access due to financial or geographic barriers. Services offered at the clinic include dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, and preventive care. Patients do not need insurance to receive care, and all treatments are provided at no cost. The organization relies heavily on volunteers, including dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and general community members who help with registration, patient flow, and logistics.

Dr. Voshell shared that volunteering at I-MOM clinics has been one of the most rewarding aspects of his career. “It’s inspiring to see the immediate impact we can have on someone’s health and confidence,” he said. “Many patients haven’t been to a dentist in years, and being able to provide care without financial burden is incredibly fulfilling.”

Community support has been strong, with local businesses and organizations contributing supplies and resources to ensure the clinic runs smoothly. Patients are encouraged to arrive early due to limited availability, and the event will continue until all patients are seen or supplies are depleted.

This annual event not only addresses urgent dental needs but also raises awareness about oral health and preventative care, underscoring the importance of maintaining healthy teeth and gums for overall well-being.
