AKIPRESS.COM – A new dental care unit for children with disabilities will be opened at the National Maternal and Child Health Care Center in Bishkek, officials announced on Wednesday. The facility aims to provide specialized dental services for children with physical, developmental, and cognitive challenges, addressing a critical gap in healthcare access for this vulnerable population.
According to the Ministry of Health, the clinic will be equipped with modern dental chairs, adaptive equipment, and tools designed specifically to accommodate children with limited mobility or sensory sensitivities. Trained pediatric dentists and support staff will offer comprehensive care, including preventive treatments, routine check-ups, and restorative procedures, in a comfortable and child-friendly environment.
“The opening of this clinic marks a significant step forward in ensuring equal healthcare opportunities for all children, regardless of their abilities,” said Dr. Aida Sadykova, director of the National Maternal and Child Health Care Center. “We hope to reduce dental anxiety and improve overall oral health outcomes for children with disabilities, who often face significant barriers in accessing traditional dental services.”
In addition to treatment, the clinic will focus on parental education and community outreach. Workshops and guidance sessions will help caregivers learn effective oral hygiene practices tailored to their children’s specific needs. The program also plans to collaborate with local schools, rehabilitation centers, and NGOs to expand awareness and reach more families in need.
The initiative has received support from international partners, including UNICEF and several European dental associations, which have provided funding, training, and technical assistance. Officials emphasized that the new clinic is part of a broader national strategy to improve pediatric healthcare and inclusivity in medical services across Kyrgyzstan.
The clinic is expected to officially open its doors in November, with appointments available for families starting immediately after the inauguration.
