Century residents will have access to dental services on Monday, thanks to the Community Health Northwest Florida (CHNWF) mobile dental unit.
The mobile unit will be stationed at the Community Health facility on Industrial Boulevard from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24. Additional visits to Century are planned, though dates for future appointments will be announced later.
Dr. Gabriel Hernandez, DDS, who serves as CHNWF’s chief dental officer, expressed enthusiasm about the program. He said the dental department is “excited to once again provide much-needed dental consults, exams, and cleanings to the citizens of Century” through the mobile dental unit. Dr. Hernandez added that the service aims to improve dental access for residents who have limited options for care.
The mobile dental unit functions as a fully equipped, portable dentist’s office on wheels. It is designed to accommodate multiple patients at a time for routine dental examinations and cleanings. For this visit, the unit will operate outside the CHNWF Century office at 6021 Industrial Boulevard, located off Highway 4.
Patients who require more advanced or specialized dental treatments will be referred to one of CHNWF’s permanent office locations.
Chandra Smiley, CEO of CHNWF, highlighted the benefits of the mobile dental program. She said the unit helps the community by making quality dental care more affordable and accessible. Smiley explained that improving access to care can lead to better overall patient outcomes. She emphasized that the mobile unit addresses healthcare barriers, especially in rural areas like Century where access to dental services is limited.
“The mobile dental unit is an example of how we can reach vulnerable populations,” Smiley said. “It allows us to bring essential care directly to people who might otherwise go without treatment.”
The initiative is part of CHNWF’s broader commitment to expanding healthcare access in underserved areas. By delivering services directly to communities, the organization hopes to reduce gaps in care and improve oral health outcomes.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the mobile dental unit while it is in Century. The combination of convenience, accessibility, and professional care ensures that residents can receive dental services without traveling long distances.
