Eagle View Community Health System is preparing to launch a new Mobile Dental Unit this spring, bringing dental services directly to students in Mercer County schools. The initiative marks the first time Eagle View is taking dental care on the road, aiming to reach children who may have difficulty accessing services at traditional clinics.
The Mobile Dental Unit will begin its visits on March 13, partnering with the Mercer County Health Department to provide care at local schools. According to Marketing Coordinator Sabrina Wilson, this new approach is expected to offer significant benefits for families across the region. “We are really excited about the mobile unit. It is going to be a huge thing to be able to bring dental care to all of our five counties,” Wilson said.
Initially, the unit will focus on hygiene services like cleaning and preventive care. Eagle View officials hope to eventually expand the offerings to include restorative treatments, such as fillings and extractions, helping to address more complex dental needs.
Eagle View Community Health System currently serves residents in Henderson, Warren, Mercer, and McDonough Counties in Illinois, as well as Des Moines County in Iowa. The organization operates clinics in Oquawka, Stronghurst, and Monmouth, and is now extending its reach with this innovative mobile program.
The expansion of dental services through the mobile unit highlights Eagle View’s commitment to improving access to essential health care. By bringing the clinic to schools, the health system aims to remove barriers and make it easier for children in rural communities to stay healthy. Officials say the program could soon include more schools and counties, providing even greater support for local families.
