BEVERLY HILLS — The Giving A Smile Foundation hosted its inaugural gala at the Beverly Hilton on Dec. 11, raising funds to expand its mission of providing free, high-quality dental care to underserved youth across Los Angeles.
Founded by brothers Dr. Rodney Raanan and Dr. Justin Raanan, the foundation partners professional dentists with dental students to deliver life-changing care at no cost. Proceeds from the gala will support the creation of a permanent, standalone clinic and the launch of two fully equipped mobile dental units to reach children directly in their communities.
“Can you believe that a dream we had 12 years ago has grown into this beautiful foundation?” said Dr. Rodney Raanan in his opening speech. “The foundation has already helped over 4,000 people across L.A., and we will continue to grow. This is not just an organization — it’s our family story.”
Dr. Justin Raanan added, “These mobile clinics will remove barriers to treatment and expand our impact across Los Angeles, bringing care to children and young adults where they are.”
The event, hosted by actor Kelsey Grammer and featuring a performance by Grammy-winning singer Robin Thicke, brought together Beverly Hills residents for a live auction benefiting the foundation.
Several awards were presented during the evening: Beverly Hills Mayor Sharona Nazarian received the Humanitarian Leadership Award; talent agent Lorrie Bartlett received the Guiding Light Award; Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley CEO JR Dzubak was honored with the Visionary Impact Award; and All Greater Good Foundation President Dr. Katja Van Herle received the Healing Hands Award.
“The Giving A Smile Foundation restores dignity and confidence,” Mayor Nazarian said. “They do it quietly, consistently, and professionally, strengthening the very fabric of our community. These children often hide their smiles when they first walk in, but after treatment, their confidence is restored. Access, mentorship, and compassion aren’t extras — they are essential.”
Nazarian praised the gala as an example of unity in action. “It’s professionals using their skills to serve, organizations creating pathways for those overlooked, and a community coming together to help the next generation,” she said.
