Rogue Community College (RCC) will provide free dental hygiene screenings to the public during the first week of its winter term, offering preventive oral care while supporting hands-on training for students in Southern Oregon.
The screenings will take place from January 5 to January 9, 2026, at the RCC Dental Hygiene Clinic on the college’s Table Rock Campus in White City. The service is available at no cost for a limited time, and appointments are required.
The initiative is designed to expand access to basic oral health services while allowing students in RCC’s Dental Hygiene Program to apply classroom learning in a clinical setting. During this initial week, the clinic will focus exclusively on free screenings before resuming its regular schedule of low-cost preventive dental services later in the term.
Screenings will be performed by dental hygiene students completing required clinical training under the direct supervision of licensed dental professionals. The clinic operates in a setting that mirrors a traditional dental office, giving students practical experience while ensuring patient safety and professional standards of care.
“These screenings provide a dual benefit,” said Carmen Mons, director of RCC Dental Programs. “Our students gain valuable real-world clinical experience, and community members receive a no-cost service that can support their oral health.”
Dental hygiene screenings typically include an assessment of overall oral health, identification of potential issues, preventive care recommendations, and education on daily oral hygiene practices.
While not a substitute for a full dental exam, the screenings can help participants understand their oral health status and determine whether follow-up care is needed. Patients may also qualify for additional low-cost services offered later in the winter term.
Throughout the academic year, the RCC Dental Hygiene Clinic offers affordable preventive services to the public, including fluoride treatments, dental sealants, debridement, and laser therapy. These services support student training while helping reduce barriers to dental care for residents in Jackson County and nearby communities.
In addition, RCC dental assistant and dental hygiene students will offer free full-mouth X-rays for qualifying patients during the winter term as part of their radiology training. Eligibility requirements apply, and availability may be limited.
RCC officials encourage community members to book early, as spaces for no-cost services are limited.
The January screening week reflects RCC’s broader commitment to community engagement, combining workforce education with practical health services that benefit both students and local residents.
