Capital Dental is celebrating a major achievement after securing the Health Improvement Services award at the Canberra Region Local Business Awards and earning a finalist spot in the Youth Award category.
Owner Dr. Maria Andersson said the recognition was an energising moment for the team.
“All the hard work we’ve put in was noticed,” she said. “We entered to boost staff morale and gain acknowledgement, and the success reflects the dedication of our entire team and the trust of our patients.”
Based in Conder, Capital Dental focuses on empowering patients to manage their own oral health through education and preventive care. Dr. Andersson credited the win to the practice’s patient-centred approach, spa-like environment, and commitment to gentle, evidence-based dentistry.
“We invest heavily in state-of-the-art technology and stay at the forefront of clinical practice,” she said. “Our 5-star reviews and strong word-of-mouth referrals show that patients trust us to tailor treatment plans to their needs and lifestyle.”
She also praised staff member Olesya Nikulina, a finalist for the Youth Award.
“She adapts to each patient with rare empathy for someone so young,” Dr. Andersson said.
Founded by Dr. Sahil Soni in 2013 and acquired by Dr. Andersson in 2018, the practice has expanded steadily from two to four treatment rooms and doubled its team. Dr. Andersson said strong staff retention has been a cornerstone of its success.
“We’ve supported formal qualifications for three dental assistants, advanced training for dentists and assistants, and ongoing professional development through targeted education,” she said. A new dentist will join the practice next year to meet rising patient demand.
Environmental sustainability is also a priority. The clinic has shifted to reusable, sterilisable instruments wherever possible to reduce waste without compromising safety.
