MADISON – A free health clinic will open in Madison on October 18th and 19th, providing much-needed medical services to local residents through Remote Area Medicine (RAM), a nonprofit organization known for organizing pop-up clinics nationwide.
The two-day event will be held at a Madison church, opening at 6 a.m. each day. Organizers emphasize that all services will be strictly first-come, first-served, and no insurance, payment, or photo identification is required.
This ensures that uninsured, underinsured, and underserved individuals have access to care without facing financial or administrative barriers.
Patients will be able to receive dental, vision, and general medical services, but RAM notes that due to time constraints, participants may be asked to prioritize one area of ??care—choosing either dental or vision—in order to maximize patient access.
Dental services typically include cleanings, fillings, and extractions, while vision care typically provides eye exams and free prescription glasses. General medical services may include basic physicals, health screenings, and consultations.
Parking for the event will open on Friday, October 17th, and continue throughout the weekend. RAM recommends that patients arrive early, as waiting lists for services often begin overnight or in the early morning.
Founded in 1985, RAM Area Medical provides free clinics to communities across the country, particularly those in rural and underserved areas.
Their mission is to provide high-quality healthcare to those who may otherwise be unable to access it due to cost, lack of insurance, or a shortage of healthcare providers. RAM clinics have previously attracted hundreds of patients seeking long-term medical, dental, and vision issues.
Local organizers say they hope the clinic in Madison will help ease the burden on families who struggle to access regular care. “Events like this can change lives,” noted a volunteer, adding that their goal is not only to provide treatment but also to restore dignity and hope to patients.
