Carlisle Dental Clinic Celebrates 25 Years of Growth and Patient Care

A leading dental practice in Northwest England is celebrating its 25th anniversary, celebrating decades of steady growth and dedication to patient care.

Founded in the autumn of 2000 by husband and wife team Jack and Alison Spedding, Spedding Dental Clinic has grown from a single dentist’s practice to a thriving practice with 10 dental clinicians, 16 dental nurses, and administrative staff.

Over the past quarter century, the Carlisle-based practice has treated over 21,000 patients and performed over 190,000 procedures, helping patients maintain healthy smiles.

Today, the practice has five well-equipped surgery suites, serving over 4,000 patients across north Cumbria.

Each year, the practice receives approximately 500 specialist referrals from over 70 dentists, serving a region stretching from Cumbria to Dumfries and Hexham.

Reflecting on this milestone, Partner Alison Spedding said, “It has been an incredible journey building and developing the practice over the past 25 years. We have assembled a strong team of general and specialist dentists who are able to meet the diverse needs of our patients.

Our services now cover implants, composite bonding, orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, and oral surgery, and we frequently receive referrals from other practices who value our expertise.”

A key factor in the practice’s success is staff development and retention, ensuring patients always receive care from familiar and experienced professionals.

Practice Manager Jack Spedding noted, “The strength and professionalism of our team are the biggest reasons for our continued success.

Many of our staff have worked with us for many years and are loyal, dedicated, and genuinely committed to their own growth and patient care. We are very proud of them.”

The practice has also played a leading role in organizing specialist training days in Cumbria, supporting the professional development of dental staff across the county.

Over 30 practices in Carlisle, Penrith, Maryport, Whitehaven, Wigton, Brampton, Cockermouth, and Kendal have participated in these initiatives, which aim to expand access to complex dental care.

Senior Dental Nurse Jane Cook and Clinic Manager Joan Parkin have been with the clinic since its inception. After 25 years of dedicated service, Joan is now preparing for her upcoming retirement, marking the end of an era at the clinic.
