Another incident of an upside-down flag has drawn attention, this time at a private dental clinic in Pontian, Johor.
A 33-second video circulating online shows the Johor state flag hung upside down on the second-floor glass door of the three-story shophouse where the clinic is located, next to the state flag. This detail, in stark contrast to the state flag being properly hung, quickly sparked heated discussion online.
The video shows several police officers and members of the public at the scene, while the clinic was closed at the time. The incident sparked strong reactions on social media, with many criticizing it as a gross disrespect for the national flag, while others questioned the lack of strict enforcement, leading to repeated similar incidents.
Pontian Deputy Police Chief, DS-Insp Abdul Hamid Abdul Rahman, is expected to issue a statement regarding the incident. Notably, just Sunday, Segamat police also discovered the Johor state flag hung upside down inside a hotel building on Jalan Syed Abdul Kadir.
Police subsequently launched an investigation and summoned two hotel employees, including a foreign worker, to assist in the investigation, ultimately deeming the incident an unintentional mistake.
