A fire broke out on Jalan Seri Melor Tinagayan on Sunday evening, destroying a row of home improvement stores.
The alarm sounded at 5:53 pm, and fire trucks from the Semporna Fire and Rescue Station arrived on the scene within minutes, finding the two-story building already engulfed in flames.
The fire destroyed approximately 90% of the hardware store and spread to the upper floor, where a dental clinic suffered approximately 50% damage.
Firefighters faced difficulties due to low water pressure at fire hydrants, but with the support of water tankers from the Sabah Water Department, they were able to draw water from multiple sources.
A total of 49 personnel from various agencies, including the police, Sabah Electricity Company, and the Civil Defence Force, participated in the operation. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
