Remote Area Medical Center (RAM), a nonprofit pop-up clinic dedicated to providing free dental, vision and medical services to those in need, will host two days of free clinics in Philadelphia next month in partnership with the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office.
The clinic will be open at 6 a.m. on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17 at the Future School at 4021 Parkside Avenue in West Philadelphia, offering free dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, dental X-rays, eye exams, glaucoma screenings, eyeglass prescriptions and on-site eyewear services, as well as women’s health exams and general medical checkups.
All services are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and no ID or health insurance is required.
“We are very much looking forward to hosting this meaningful event again,” Philadelphia Police Superintendent Rochelle Bilal said in a statement.
These partner organizations play an important role in providing critical medical, vision and dental services to residents who need them most.
By working together, we are not only making a difference in many lives, but also further strengthening our commitment to equity, access and community health.”
The clinic will be open at 6 a.m. each morning until the number of services available for the day is full. Sunday hours will be shortened, and organizers recommend that residents who need services, especially dental patients, come early to line up as soon as possible. Clinic closing times will be flexible based on daily capacity of each service.
Given the limited time and treatment capacity, patients will need to choose between dental and vision services. In addition, basic medical examinations will be provided.
“Millions of people lack access to the health care they need, and our goal is to close this gap by providing dental, vision and medical services to anyone who needs them at no cost,” said Sandra Hall, RAM Clinic Coordinator.
