Eastman Upgrades School 17 Clinic to Help Rochester’s Disadvantaged

The Eastman Oral Health Institute Dental Clinic at Enrico Fermi School 17 has completed an extensive renovation that significantly improves dental services in underserved and underserved areas of the Rochester community.

The upgrade, funded by the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, was designed to better meet the growing dental needs of students, their families, and members of the surrounding community.

The remodeled clinic features a new dental chair, advanced lighting, and modern diagnostic tools for greater patient comfort and quality of care.

The addition of a panoramic X-ray machine and intraoral scanner allows for faster, more accurate diagnosis and treatment, while an upgraded sterilization area and lab enhance safety and clinical standards.

As one of the few dental clinics in the Rochester community that provides Medicaid services, School 17 serves approximately 5,000 patients each year.

With the decline of Medicaid recipients and the closure of several dental clinics, local residents are facing longer wait times and limited options. The renovation fills this critical health care gap.

“This clinic plays a vital role in closing health disparities in Rochester,” said Holly Barone, COO of the Eastman Oral Health Institute.

Thanks to the support of Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, we are able to provide better and more efficient care in an environment that the community trusts.”

In addition, the clinic provides dentists with the opportunity to receive advanced training and work experience in public health institutions.

By meeting urgent community needs and building the capacity of future dentists to serve underserved areas, Eastman is actively addressing the oral health crisis and promoting a more equitable health care system.

Ms. Barone added, “We are not only supporting improvements in community oral health, but also bringing more equal health care to families who need it most.”
