Dentsply Sirona & Project 32 Transform Amazon Oral Health

On June 25, 2025, Dentsply Sirona announced the successful completion of an innovative dental assistance expedition in the Amazon region with the Brazilian NGO Project 32, aiming to provide free and high-quality dental care to local resource-poor riverside communities.

This activity is closely aligned with Dentsply Sirona’s sustainability program “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Better World”, which is committed to expanding access to oral health services around the world.

The expedition took place from June 1 to 7, 2025, targeting Rolim de Moura do Guaporé in the Brazilian Amazon, a remote municipality with a population of more than 55,000 people.

During the period, a total of 20 dental professionals participated in the service, some of whom collaborated remotely through Dentsply Sirona’s cloud platform DS Core.

With the platform, experts can view intraoral scans in real time and provide advice for diagnosis and treatment without having to go to the site in person, which greatly improves treatment capabilities, reduces costs and reduces carbon footprint.

By applying advanced digital dental technology, the medical team completed approximately 2,000 restorations and root canal treatments in just one week.

This achievement not only demonstrates the efficiency of remote digital diagnosis and treatment, but also marks a new paradigm for promoting modern medical services in remote areas.

Dentsply Sirona’s cooperation with “Project 32” began in 2013, and to date, more than 30,000 dental surgeries have been completed in many vulnerable groups in Brazil.

The introduction of digital technology makes this process faster, safer and more efficient. “Digital dentistry offers unprecedented flexibility and safety,” said Dr. Manoel Eduardo de Lima Machado, founder of the project. “Everyone should have access to the same high-quality dental care, whether outside the public or private system.”

Andrea Frohning, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Dentsply Sirona, added: “This expedition once again demonstrates the huge potential of digital technology to improve the quality of health services in remote areas, and also helps us achieve our ambitious goal of creating 25 million healthy smiles by the end of 2025.”

In addition to its long-term cooperation with Project 32, Dentsply Sirona also promotes a number of oral health projects with international organizations such as Smile Train, Amazon Doctors and TeamSmile.

These efforts not only reflect the company’s commitment to improving oral health accessibility, but also reflect its corporate vision of truly improving human health and well-being through meaningful global collaboration.

Dentsply Sirona was named one of the “Most Responsible Companies in America” ??by Newsweek, reflecting its efforts to expand its health impact and build sustainable partnerships.

The company is leading the global oral care industry towards a more equitable and sustainable future with innovation and responsibility.
