Q&A: Why Doctors Are Choosing G-CAM for Their Patients

Hyrum Anderson, director of sales for Dental Plus USA, explains why G-CAM biopolymer restorative material is a great alternative to zirconia and why patients, clinicians and labs are all benefiting from the material and excited about its future.

Q: What Is G-CAM?

A: G-CAM is a millable, dental biopolymer restorative material that has been FDA-cleared for definitive restorations. It is indicated for All-On-X arches, crowns, bridges, veneers, and dentures.

G-CAM is a millable, dental ploymer restroraive material well suited for several indications.

Q: Why Not Use Zirconia which has been an industry standard?

A: That’s a great question and one that we get a lot actually. G-CAM was designed with a hardness slightly lower than a natural tooth. Because of this, it creates a restoration that will not prematurely wear out the opposing natural dentition. Unlike zirconia, it absorbs more of the chewing force.

Q: What are the benefits of G-CAM that my patients will be able to relate to?

A:The first thing you’ll notice when you hold a G-CAM arch is how lightweight it is. When patients are presented with both options, they’ll typically choose the G-CAM due to this factor. G-CAM under pressure has a little flexibility before it will fracture, acting a bit like the periodontal ligament. This makes it a healthier option, especially for implant cases.

Unlike zirconia, the lightweight material absorbs more of the chewing force.

Q: What are the benefits of G-CAM when it comes to the lab process?

A: G-CAM is a much faster process in the lab. Unlike other materials that need to have time to sinter or use a porcelain furnace, G-CAM can be milled out, and the characterization can be done with a UV light-curing system. This decreases time and money spent! This means fewer remakes and lab time is needed because G-CAM can be realigned and repaired chairside using light-cured composites.

Q: Who manufactures G-CAM?

A: Graphenano Dental is the manufacturer of G-CAM. The company created a way to use graphene to improve products in many different industries including health, beauty, industrial, electronics, and now dental.

G-CAM can be realigned and repaired chairside using light-cured composites.

Q: How long has G-CAM been on the market in the United States?

A: It was FDA cleared in 2022.

Q: What has been the reception with doctors and patients who have used G-CAM?

A: So far from the patients that we have been able to talk with and interview, they are really happy with their restorations and the quality of G-CAM. We’ve been able to talk with many doctors and labs who are using G-CAM who are really excited about the future of this product, and we hope to continue to spread awareness about it as it is a fantastic solution for patients.

Q: Where can G-CAM be purchased?

A: Dental Plus USA is the exclusive distributor of G-CAM in the United States. It can be purchased on our website.
