Personal finance site WalletHub ranked all 50 states and Washington, D.C., across two main categories: dental habits and health and oral health. The rankings were published Jan. 30. 

Data on the number of HPSAs for each state is from the Health Resources & Services Administration, which updates the dashboard daily. 

Here are the number of dental health professional shortage areas in the 10 worst states for dental health in 2025:

1. Arkansas: 133 dental shortage areas

2. Mississippi: 148 dental shortage areas

3. West Virginia: 117 dental shortage areas

4. Texas: 265 dental shortage areas

5. Louisiana: 164 dental shortage areas

6. Montana: 115 dental shortage areas

7. Alaska: 339 dental shortage areas

8. Kentucky: 210 dental shortage areas

9. Alabama: 88 dental shortage areas

10. Florida: 275 dental shortage areas
