DentaQuest, part of Sun Life U.S., has donated $45,000 to two nonprofit organizations focused on improving oral healthcare and hygiene education for schoolchildren in the greater Los Angeles area.
A $30,000 grant will help the GeriSmiles Dental Health Foundation expand its Mobile Dental Hygiene Practice, which provides oral health services and nutrition education to underserved communities. Last year, the foundation reached over 60,000 students across Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, with plans to extend services to Blythe, Trona, and Needles.
The remaining $15,000 will go to The Los Angeles Trust for Children’s Health (The L.A. Trust), which will enhance its bilingual (Spanish/English) oral health education program. The funding will allow The L.A. Trust to integrate nutrition and diabetes education and pilot these updated sessions at eight LAUSD elementary schools, primarily in South Los Angeles.
These donations reflect DentaQuest’s ongoing commitment to improving oral health access in underserved areas and addressing the barriers many families face in receiving proper dental care.
