Dentaid Drives Innovation and Research to Advance Global Oral Health

The Dentaid Research Center, one of Europe’s leading private oral health research facilities, continues to set global benchmarks in oral care. Serving as the hub for all Dentaid research, the center collaborates with oral health professionals to deliver evidence-based solutions.

“Dentaid focuses on understanding the difference between health and disease through tissue histology, physiology, and the structure and resistance of oral biofilm, as well as its links to oral and systemic diseases,” said Joan Gispert, manager of research and development.

Each year, the center partners with universities, research institutes, and scientific societies to advance oral health knowledge. A recent multinational study involving six countries highlighted the importance of geographic factors in analyzing patients’ subgingival microbiota.

Dentaid’s research portfolio includes over 5,000 formulas, collaborations with 25 universities, and a team of more than 50 specialists in biology, medicine, engineering, and galenics. Its well-known brands—VITIS, Perio·Aid, Interprox, and PHB—offer products designed for prevention, treatment, and daily oral care.

This year, Dentaid launched two major innovations. The Interprox interdental brush range, developed with Heidelberg University, now meets a wider range of patient needs, simplifying professional prescriptions.

“Offering a complete and effective solution for all interdental hygiene needs is the main motivation behind the new Interprox range,” said Manuel Pujades, head of physical product development.

Another launch, VITIS Anti-stain, is the first formula aimed at preventing stains from chlorhexidine use. The product maintains antiseptic efficacy while being gentle on the gums, reducing treatment discontinuation due to staining.

“Science is the only way to create solutions that truly make a difference. Our commitment to research, innovation, and expert collaboration has defined Dentaid for 45 years and will continue to do so,” said CEO Manel Vera.

Global data underscore the urgency of oral health action. The World Health Organization reports that over 3.7 billion people are affected by oral diseases, with untreated dental caries in permanent teeth being the most common condition. Gingivitis and periodontitis remain widespread.

In response, Dentaid leads prevention-focused initiatives such as the 2025 Oral Health Throughout Life campaign, developed with the European Federation of Periodontology. The campaign emphasizes oral health awareness at every stage of life, reinforcing Dentaid’s role in health education and professional training.

Looking forward, Dentaid aims to advance applied oral health science, deepen professional collaborations, and continue promoting oral health worldwide.
