Dental Clinic Expansion in Margate Blocked Over Parking Dispute

Margate’s South Dental Clinic, which has served the community for over a decade, has announced plans to expand to meet growing demand.

However, the proposal has been put on hold after the Kingborough City Council stated that the clinic must provide an additional 98 parking spaces before any expansion can proceed.

Dr. Jessica Manuela, a dentist at the South Dental Clinic, told Mel Bush on ABC’s Hobart Avenue that expansion is imminent.

“Patients are unable to see their dentist, and some end up having to go to the Royal Hobart Hospital’s emergency department for toothaches. This is ridiculous because we could be treating them here,” she said.

Kingborough Mayor Paula Riedt explained that the obstacles stem from what she called “anomalies” in the planning scheme.
