Dr. Michelle Chan Carries Family Legacy with Free Dental Services in Southern California

A dentist in Temecula, California, is helping to improve access to dental care for people who need it most. Dr. Michelle Chan is part of Cura Smiles, a group of 46 volunteers who provide free dental services to underserved individuals. Their work recently gained attention on National Dentist Day, highlighting the ongoing need for dental care in local communities.

Dr. Chan, a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, has just started her career but is already committed to giving back. She continues her family’s long tradition of service in healthcare, which began with her grandfather, an immigrant from Guyana who became a physician in the United States. Many others in the Chan family have also pursued careers in healthcare, and Dr. Chan is proud to carry on this legacy.

Her volunteer work does not stop in Southern California. Dr. Chan has traveled on dental missions to countries like Honduras and Mexico, where she provided care to those without easy access to a dentist. Now, she plans to use her experience to support both local and global efforts to bring compassionate dental care to those in need.

A spokesperson for Cura Smiles praised the impact of volunteers like Dr. Chan. The group believes in creating brighter futures by helping people feel confident in their smiles. Volunteers aim to reach more people who might not otherwise be able to afford dental services.

Dr. Chan says she is honored to live out her values through her volunteer work. The Cura Smiles team continues their mission of outreach, hoping to inspire others to join in and support dental health for all.
