Egypt Expands Dental Services with New Clinics, Equipment and Training Across 17 Governorates

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population said it expanded dental services nationwide in January 2026 by opening new clinics, upgrading facilities, and increasing staff training in government medical institutions.

Health ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said a new dental department was launched at Toukh Central Hospital in Qalyubeya Governorate. A dental clinic at the Safaga health unit in the Red Sea Governorate was also reopened after renovation.

The ministry distributed 39 fully equipped dental units to 38 hospitals and medical centres across 17 governorates, including Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, Damietta, Kafr El-Sheikh, Qena, Dakahleya, Gharbeya, Monufeya, Sohag, Fayoum, Assiut, Beheira, Sharqeya, North Sinai, and Minya.

Dental services were also introduced under the government’s Decent Life Initiative in Sohag. Dental chairs were installed in health units in the Tama and Maragha districts to improve local access to oral healthcare.

In addition, the ministry replaced or renovated 22 dental chairs in health facilities across four governorates and upgraded four dental prosthetics laboratories to strengthen treatment services.

Peter Wagih, assistant health minister for therapeutic affairs, said 642 dental interns were assigned to hospitals and health units across the country during the month. The ministry also organized training sessions and scientific workshops for 444 dentists to enhance professional skills.

Inspection teams conducted field visits to 58 hospitals in five governorates to assess service quality and ensure compliance with national medical standards, Wagih added.

The ministry said it will continue improving dental services and healthcare infrastructure, while expanding training programmes for medical staff to ensure safe and high-quality care for citizens nationwide.
