Filipino Oral Health Gains Momentum with Nationwide “Ngiting Tagumpay” Program

The Philippine Dental Association (PDA), the Philippine Association of Registered Dental Technologists (PARTD), and oral healthcare brands Sensodyne and Polident have launched “Ngiting Tagumpay,” a nationwide initiative aimed at improving oral health in the Philippines. The program targets prevalent dental issues, including tooth sensitivity and tooth loss.

Kicking off ahead of World Oral Health Day at Market! Market!, the campaign will travel to major cities offering free dental consultations, oral health education, and basic dental procedures. In addition, the program plans to distribute 1,500 free dentures to beneficiaries, restoring confidence and improving quality of life for recipients.

Research by Sensodyne reveals that six in 10 Filipinos suffer from tooth sensitivity, causing discomfort when consuming hot, cold, or sweet foods. Meanwhile, Polident reports that only 11 percent of Filipinos who need dentures actually use them, highlighting gaps in access to dental care.

“Many Filipinos delay seeking dental treatment until problems become severe,” said Dr. Lucilo Niñal Jr., president of the Philippine Dental Association. “Conditions like tooth sensitivity and tooth loss can often be managed effectively when addressed early. Public education is essential to improving oral health outcomes.”

The program builds on four years of collaboration between the dental organizations and Haleon, the manufacturer of Sensodyne and Polident. Previous initiatives, such as the “Oplan Balik Ngiti” program, have provided thousands with free consultations and denture assistance, enhancing comfort, confidence, and overall oral health.

Maimai Punzalan, general manager of Haleon Philippines, underscored the importance of oral health in everyday life. “A healthy smile makes a real difference—from professional success to sharing meaningful moments with loved ones,” she said.

The launch also featured digital creators Macoy Dubs and The Aguinaldos, who encouraged Filipinos to adopt daily oral hygiene routines. With continued support from Sensodyne and Polident, “Ngiting Tagumpay” aims to expand nationwide, combining education with practical assistance to improve smiles across the country.
