This Saturday, Charleston residents will have the opportunity to receive free medical, dental, and vision care services, no matter the reason.
The annual #WeCareWV Day event, hosted by Health Right West Virginia, will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 18th at the organization’s East Side clinic, located at 1520 E. Washington Street.

This is the second year Health Right has hosted the event independently. In previous years, the organization has partnered with Remote Area Medical to offer two days of free clinics.

Health Right typically serves approximately 46,000 uninsured or low-income residents annually—those with incomes up to 250% of the federal poverty level. CEO Angie Settle said no proof of income or insurance is required for Saturday’s event.
“Some people have insurance but can’t afford their deductibles or copays,” Settle said. “We don’t want this to be a barrier to anyone getting care.”
Last year, the one-day event saw over 500 patients. Settle noted that vision and dental care remain the highest needs in the community.
“Even people with insurance often don’t have access to preventive care,” she said. “For many, this is their only chance for a checkup.”
The clinic plans to serve as many patients as possible, depending on volunteer availability. As of Monday, 250 to 300 volunteers had signed up, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, and optometrists.
“We also have students and community members helping out,” Settle said. “It’s a great opportunity to connect with the community and see firsthand what people really need.”
