A government doctor employed at Bhairasiya Civil Hospital was investigated for allegedly practicing medicine at two private clinics in Bhopal, resulting in the revocation of both clinics’ licenses.
The action stemmed from surprise inspections by Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Manish Sharma at two clinics in Bakhpan and Niroga. The inspections revealed that a pediatrician employed at the municipal hospital was practicing in private settings without official approval.
The Madhya Pradesh Nursing Homes and Clinics Office subsequently issued show-cause notices to the clinics and doctors involved. However, after failing to provide a satisfactory response within the prescribed timeframe, the clinics’ registrations and licenses were revoked.
Authorities emphasized that under the Madhya Pradesh Nursing Homes and Clinics Establishment Act and the Madhya Pradesh Nursing Homes and Rosotherapy-related Establishments (Registration and Licensing) Act, government doctors are prohibited from practicing privately without explicit permission.
This incident highlights the health department’s ongoing efforts to promote legal compliance and ethical practices in the healthcare sector.
