Harcum College Hosts Free Sealant Day to Boost Oral health for Children and Families

BRYN MAWR, Pa., Jan. 20, 2026 — Harcum College will offer free preventive dental care to the public during a community Sealant Day on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at its Dental Clinic on campus.

Families are encouraged to attend, particularly those with children ages 6 to 12. Services provided at no cost include cavity-preventing dental sealants, oral examinations, fluoride treatments, and education on proper oral hygiene.

“Sealants can prevent up to 80 percent of cavities for as long as two years,” said Dossie Cavallucci, director of Harcum College’s Dental Hygiene Program. “Providing these services for free is an effective way to reduce dental decay and help families maintain better oral health.”

Dental sealants are thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth. They act as a barrier against bacteria and plaque, lowering the risk of cavities.

Dental hygiene students will assist under professional supervision. Student Luryin Schenker said the event offers a meaningful way to serve the community while gaining hands-on experience. “We help protect smiles and promote better oral health,” she said.

Early booking is recommended due to limited appointment slots.
