Henry Schein One Teams Up with AWS to Launch AI-Enhanced Dental Practice System

Henry Schein One has announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch an AI-augmented dental practice management system. The collaboration aims to transform how dental professionals manage patient care, streamline operations, and enhance overall efficiency in dental practices.

The new system will integrate AWS’s generative AI (GenAI) technologies into Henry Schein One’s leading platforms, including Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, and Dentally. This initiative is a key part of the company’s broader global AI strategy, which it describes as the development of the world’s first AI-augmented practice management system. The goal is to combine advanced technology with dental expertise to simplify workflows and improve patient care across the entire dental experience.

By embedding AI intelligence at every stage of dental practice management, Henry Schein One intends to break down traditional silos between tools and processes. From scheduling appointments and capturing patient imaging to managing payments and presenting treatment plans, the AI system will work across all touchpoints of the patient journey.

“This collaboration represents a pivotal moment for dentistry,” said Ryan Hungate, Chief Clinical and Strategy Officer at Henry Schein One. “We’re not just improving workflows — we’re reimagining how dental care is delivered, documented, and optimized around the world.”

Key Features of the AI Integration

The system leverages AWS services, including Amazon Bedrock and Transcribe Medical, to enable real-time documentation. AI-powered assistants will capture and summarize patient interactions instantly, helping reduce administrative burdens and improve record accuracy. Additionally, voice-activated periodontal charting will allow hands-free data entry, further enhancing workflow efficiency.

Predictive business intelligence is another major feature. It will help dental practices anticipate trends, optimize staffing, and make data-driven financial decisions. Automated claims validation and dynamic pricing tools are also included, supporting revenue management and operational efficiency. The system’s AI-driven scheduling and patient communication tools aim to reduce appointment no-shows while creating more personalized interactions.

With AWS’s global cloud infrastructure, Henry Schein One plans to expand these intelligent capabilities to the U.S., U.K., and E.U. markets. The partnership emphasizes scalability and interoperability, ensuring consistent standards of care across regions. By creating an integrated digital ecosystem, the companies hope to make dental practices more efficient, accurate, and patient-focused.

This collaboration reflects a growing trend of AI adoption in healthcare, where technology is increasingly used to enhance both clinical outcomes and business operations. Henry Schein One and AWS are positioning themselves at the forefront of this shift, combining cloud computing, generative AI, and dental expertise to reshape the future of dental practice management worldwide.
