Hundreds of Arizona Kids Receive Free Dental Care at San Carlos Apache Reservation

SAN CARLOS APACHE RESERVATION, AZ — Hundreds of children in Arizona received free dental care at the San Carlos Apache Reservation this week.

The annual children’s dental open house welcomed nearly 300 kids and teens, providing screenings, fluoride treatments, and guidance on proper brushing and flossing.

This year marked the eighth edition of the free clinic hosted by San Carlos Apache Healthcare. Each year, organizers choose a new theme to engage young patients.

“I think the biggest thing is just getting them more comfort and maybe not so much anxiety in coming here,” said Gregory Waite, chief dental officer at San Carlos Apache Healthcare.

With nearly 40 percent of the San Carlos population under 18, the clinic focused on helping children develop lifelong healthy dental habits.

Community dental workers dedicated their time and expertise, ensuring that children not only receive care but also learn the skills to maintain oral health.
