Last Thursday at noon, a street shooting occurred in Laurel, Mississippi, resulting in the arrest of two brothers by the police, one of whom faces serious criminal charges.
The incident occurred at about 12:45 p.m. that day. Laurel police received a report that gunshots were heard in the area of ????the northern section of Highway 15 near Garcia Donut Shop. The police quickly rushed to the scene and found several people exchanging fire in the middle of the road. The situation was tense for a while.
During the shooting, the nearby Harris Dental Clinic was hit by multiple bullets, but fortunately no casualties were reported.
The police detained Xavier Coleman on the spot and charged him with attempted aggravated assault and shooting at an inhabited building. His bail was set at $250,000 for each charge, a total of $500,000.
Xavier’s brother Daniel Coleman was also arrested at the scene and charged with illegal possession of a stolen gun. Daniel’s bail is $5,000.
As of Monday, July 7, Daniel Coleman’s name has been removed from the Jones County Jail’s online list; Xavier Coleman remains on the list of inmates. Police have not yet released more details about the cause of the incident, and the case is still under investigation.
