Meharry Medical College to Host Free Dental Clinic in Nashville

Nashville residents will have access to a free dental clinic this Saturday, offering a range of services including dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, and X-rays.

The event is organized by the nonprofit Remote Area Medical in partnership with Meharry Oral Health Day and the Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. The clinic will be held at 1801 Meharry Blvd. All services are provided at no cost, and patients must be 18 years or older. Identification is not required to receive care.

The clinic will open its doors at 6 a.m., and organizers encourage patients to arrive early due to limited availability. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Remote Area Medical, a nonprofit organization, has been offering free medical, dental, and vision care to underserved and uninsured communities across the United States since 1985. The organization operates pop-up clinics nationwide, delivering essential healthcare services to those in need. To date, Remote Area Medical has provided $189.5 million in free care to more than 910,000 patients.

The Nashville pop-up clinic is part of Remote Area Medical’s ongoing effort to improve access to healthcare in communities with limited resources. Volunteers, including dental professionals and students from Meharry Medical College, will staff the clinic to ensure patients receive comprehensive care.

Organizers say the initiative not only addresses immediate dental needs but also helps raise awareness about the importance of oral health and preventive care. Free services such as cleanings and X-rays can identify issues early, potentially preventing more serious health problems in the future.

Meharry Medical College has a long-standing commitment to serving the Nashville community and supporting healthcare education. By partnering with Remote Area Medical, the college provides students with hands-on experience while directly benefiting local residents who may lack access to regular dental care.

Residents interested in attending are advised to plan ahead and arrive early to secure their place. The event highlights the critical role of community partnerships in expanding healthcare access and supporting vulnerable populations.
