Mission Frankfort Clinic Providing Free Healthcare to Those in Need

Rising healthcare costs often force people to delay or forgo medical treatment. In Frankfort, Mission Frankfort Clinic is working to close that gap by providing affordable, reliable care for uninsured residents.

Founded in 2002 by First Baptist Church on Saint Clair Street, the clinic began as a dental service and later expanded to include medical and pharmaceutical care. More than two decades later, it continues to serve as a lifeline for community members with limited access to healthcare.

The clinic operates administrative services on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Medical clinics are held by appointment on Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., while dental services are offered twice a month.

Mission Frankfort Clinic relies entirely on volunteers. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, phlebotomists, dentists, dental hygienists, assistants, psychologists and translators donate their time to serve patients. Translation services are led by Becky Shipp and Kenny Rebellodo, ensuring language is not a barrier to care.

Interns and board members also support daily operations. Senior intern Kylie Hargrave assists with scheduling, charting and referrals. Several volunteers serve on the clinic’s board, including Medical Director Dr. Bill McGrady, Pharmacy Director Amy Rogers, and Dental Department Directors Dr. Stephen Sutley and Dr. Farley.

The clinic is open to anyone without health insurance and does not require an application. All visits are by appointment.

According to clinic director April Hagans, the clinic has had a lasting impact on the community. Many patients who once relied on emergency rooms for chronic conditions now receive consistent care, medication and ongoing support.

“People no longer feel like they have no options when it comes to their health,” Hagans said. “Because we are here, we are able to help them.”

For many in Frankfort, Mission Frankfort Clinic offers more than medical services. It provides stability, dignity and hope in a healthcare system that can often feel out of reach.
