Ordo Sonic+ Electric Toothbrush Review: Affordable Sonic Power Without the Extra Gadgets

Electric toothbrushes have become increasingly high-tech in recent years, with many models featuring Bluetooth connectivity, real-time brushing guidance, and even 3D imaging.

While these features sound appealing, they often come with a hefty price tag and aren’t essential for effective oral care.

Since 2019, I’ve tested electric toothbrushes across a range of price points, and the Ordo has consistently stood out for its simple, reliable cleaning experience.

Ordo’s sonic toothbrush, launched in 2008, is designed to provide a thorough clean without expensive bells and whistles. Over the years, I’ve tried several of their products, including the latest, the Sonic+ electric toothbrush.

Unlike competitors that require an app connection, the Sonic+ eliminates extra features and focuses on performance—after three months of daily use, here’s my take:

Battery Life

Ordo claims up to four weeks of battery life on a full charge, and my three-month testing borne out. Charging takes several hours via the included USB dock, and once fully charged, this toothbrush easily lasts twice a day.

Easy to Use

The Sonic+ features a two-minute timer and quadrant pacer to ensure even coverage throughout your mouth. It doesn’t have a built-in pressure sensor, but its lightweight, ergonomic handle is easy to maneuver even when wet. Ordo also offers a subscription service for replacement brush heads, making it easy to keep up with changes.

Cleaning Performance

This toothbrush has four modes: Clean, Whiten, Massage, and Sensitive. Its sonic motor produces 40,000 vibrations per minute, which is less than the 62,000 of the Philips Sonicare, but still effectively removes plaque.

My teeth felt refreshed and shiny after brushing, but the intensity wasn’t as intense as the “fresh from the dentist” feel of the more powerful models.

The brush head features a W-shaped bristle design with a silicone cross in the center to help polish and whiten teeth. With extended use, it’s particularly effective at removing coffee and tea stains.

While the standard clean mode felt gentler than expected, switching to the whiten mode resulted in a more powerful and thorough clean.

Good Value

The Ordo Sonic+ is the most affordable sonic toothbrush, offering excellent value for money. Four replacement brush heads are just £18, making it competitively priced and offering lower maintenance costs than premium competitors like Spotlight Oral Care.

While the Ordo Sonic+ electric toothbrush lacks flashy smart features, it delivers consistent cleaning in a lightweight and portable design.

With nearly a month’s battery life, multiple cleaning modes, and affordable replacement brush heads, it’s a great choice for those who want effective oral care without breaking the bank.
