FREMONT, Calif., US — OrthoFX, a leading innovator in orthodontic technology, has introduced a new feature aimed at improving precision in aligner therapy. The company’s latest addition, called PrecisionFinish, is part of its AirFlex aligner system and is designed to help orthodontists achieve more accurate tooth alignment during the final stages of treatment.
Achieving optimal alignment and fine-tuning details has long posed challenges in aligner therapy. Traditionally, orthodontists relied on finishing wires in fixed appliance therapy to address these issues. The PrecisionFinish feature seeks to provide a modern solution, offering consistent control over tooth movement to ensure predictable results before patients move into the retention phase.
Unlike standard aligners that often deliver high force initially and then become passive as treatment progresses, PrecisionFinish aligners maintain active force throughout the concluding stages of therapy. This consistent pressure supports precise adjustments and minimizes the need for refinements or corrective procedures. By doing so, the system provides orthodontists with greater confidence in treatment outcomes and reduces potential delays in achieving the desired smile aesthetics.
Dr. Neil Warshawsky, an orthodontist, educator, and leading AirFlex provider, emphasized the practical benefits of the new system. “With PrecisionFinish aligners in the final stages, I have seen a noticeable difference in how precisely I can finish treatments. Tooth alignment is dialled in beautifully,” he said.
OrthoFX CEO Ren Menon highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation in orthodontics. “Our mission is to continually push the boundaries of aligner therapy through material innovation. With PrecisionFinish, we’re advancing orthodontic finishing by giving doctors more control in the final stages of aligner treatment,” he stated.
The new aligners are crafted from a proprietary material developed by OrthoFX, which enhances the performance of the AirFlex system. This material innovation is part of the company’s ongoing focus on advanced polymer technologies that support faster treatment times, fewer office visits, and improved patient outcomes.
PrecisionFinish aligners will be incorporated into the last four stages of all AirFlex comprehensive cases starting October 28, 2025. Additionally, any new refinements submitted after that date will automatically receive PrecisionFinish aligners at no extra cost. The integration of this feature marks a significant step forward in making aligner therapy more predictable and efficient for orthodontic professionals.
By introducing PrecisionFinish, OrthoFX strengthens its position at the forefront of aligner innovation, offering orthodontists a tool designed to deliver smoother, more precise finishing results. With this advancement, the company underscores its mission to optimize every stage of treatment, from initial alignment to the final, smile-perfecting touches.
