Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has temporarily shut down a private dental centre after inspectors found violations of sterilization protocols, raising concerns over patient safety.
According to the Ministry, the decision was taken following inspection visits conducted by the Health Facilities Licensing and Accreditation Department, which monitors compliance with health and safety standards across both public and private medical institutions.
The violations were linked to improper sterilization practices and insufficient staff training. As a corrective measure, the centre is now required to ensure that all employees responsible for sterilization undergo specialized, accredited training programs before resuming operations.
The Ministry emphasized that maintaining rigorous infection control measures is essential in dental practices, where lapses can increase the risk of transmitting infections. Officials noted that closures of non-compliant facilities are part of wider efforts to protect patients and ensure healthcare providers meet international safety benchmarks.
The MoPH reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health and urged all healthcare facilities to strictly adhere to infection prevention guidelines. It also encouraged patients to report any concerns about medical standards to the Ministry’s hotline.
The dental centre will be permitted to reopen once it demonstrates full compliance with sterilization requirements and staff training obligations.
