Reality Star Tshegofatso Manche Faces Backlash Over New Veneers as Old Video Resurfaces

Reality television personality Tshegofatso Manche Adewale, popularly known as Ms Manche from The Mommy Club, is facing renewed criticism on social media after an old video documenting her dental makeover resurfaced and went viral.

The video, recently shared by controversial blogger Musa Khawula on X (formerly Twitter), shows Ms Manche discussing her decision to undergo another cosmetic dental procedure to enhance her smile. Although the footage is trending now, it was originally recorded about eight months ago, before similar procedures by several other South African influencers.

In the clip, Ms Manche explains that she was unhappy with her previous veneers, which she had done in Dubai eight years ago. She said she contacted Darya Dental Clinic, a Turkey-based practice specialising in veneers, to help her achieve a smile she felt more confident with.

“I reached out to Darya Clinic because my smile was not giving,” she said in the video, adding that she had lived with dissatisfaction about her veneers for years before deciding to make a change.

Darya Dental Clinic later shared footage of Ms Manche enthusiastically revealing her final results. While she appeared pleased with the outcome, the response from social media users has been mixed, with many criticising the appearance of her new teeth and describing them as “unnatural” or “fake.”

One user, Cathy_blessings, commented that while cosmetic dentistry may seem excessive, Ms Manche still looks good. Others were less forgiving, with some saying the veneers did not resemble natural teeth and accusing celebrities of promoting unrealistic beauty standards.

The clinic is a well-known destination among South African celebrities, largely due to its affordability. Public figures such as Sni Mhlongo, Khanyi Mbau, Cindy Mahlangu and Mihlali Ndamase have also travelled there for so-called “Hollywood smiles.”

As the video continues to circulate, the debate highlights ongoing public scrutiny around cosmetic procedures, celebrity influence and the growing popularity of overseas dental tourism.
