UNIFIL Peacekeepers Provide Free Dental Services in Southern Lebanon with China, Spain, and India

BEIRUT, Jan. 5 — At the invitation of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the 24th Chinese Peacekeeping Level One Plus Hospital deployed medical personnel to southern Lebanon on January 2 to provide free dental services alongside Spanish and Indian peacekeepers.

The initiative was coordinated by UNIFIL’s Civil-Military Coordination Department and jointly implemented by the medical contingents from China, Spain, and India. Indian and Spanish medical teams offered dental health consultations, while Chinese personnel conducted examinations, delivered treatments, distributed medications, and provided health education.

Local residents welcomed the services, which included practical guidance on preventing common oral diseases such as dental caries and periodontal disease.

Chinese medical staff also handed out brochures explaining the causes and risks of oral health issues, promoted daily hygiene practices, and offered tips for healthier dietary habits. Painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other commonly used medicines were distributed to patients.

The joint effort reflects the ongoing commitment of UNIFIL peacekeeping contingents to improve health and well-being in communities along Lebanon’s southern border.
