Gloucester – The University of Gloucestershire has applied to Gloucester City Council to convert part of its new campus into a dental clinic serving students and the public.
The proposal, located on the third floor of the former Debenhams department store, covers 622 square meters.
Planned facilities include six individual treatment rooms, an open-plan treatment area with six consulting rooms, a patient waiting area, and an X-ray suite. Staff and student facilities will include changing rooms, showers, and two training classrooms.
The clinic will primarily serve as a training facility for university students, but, if approved, it will also operate as a public dental clinic. It is expected that the majority of clinical staff will be current university employees.
The proposed opening hours will align with the university’s schedule – likely Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The planning application is now open for public consultation, and the public is welcome to submit comments until October 15.
