According to Research and Markets, Vietnam’s dental care market was valued at US$4.21 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach US$5.5 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.75%.
Key factors driving this growth include increased public awareness and emphasis on oral health, which is stimulating demand for dental services. Rising disposable income is also leading more people to seek dental treatments beyond basic care.
Technological advancements and improvements in dental techniques are attracting patients seeking higher-quality care and professionals looking to upgrade their skills. Government initiatives and investments in healthcare infrastructure have also played a key role in improving access to dental services in both urban and rural areas.
Dental tourism is further driving market expansion, making Vietnam a preferred destination for affordable and high-standard dental treatment.
On August 7, Detec Dental Lab held a seminar exploring the current status and development strategies of Vietnam’s dental care industry. Pham Thanh Ha, Deputy Director of Professional Affairs at the Hanoi National Dental Hospital, noted that cosmetic dentistry is rapidly developing thanks to the emergence of new technologies, materials, and treatments. However, the industry still lacks unified standards to support global integration.
The quality of services varies significantly across clinics and institutions. While some pioneering institutions have met international standards, most still rely heavily on manual processes and lack comprehensive quality control, from examination and diagnosis to treatment and post-operative care.
This lack of standardization not only widens the quality gap but also increases costs, limiting access to healthcare, especially for low- and middle-income groups.
Pham Thanh Ha emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy encompassing ongoing training, technological updates, and affordable pricing to expand access to healthcare and strengthen Vietnam’s position in medical tourism.
Luong Ngoc Quy, Vice President of the Vietnam Stomatological Association, emphasized that the demand for dental care has evolved beyond medical needs to include aesthetic services, requiring personalized solutions for every stage of life—from pregnancy and childhood to orthodontics and geriatric dental restoration.
Vietnam is committed to building a synchronized, cross-sector, and cross-regional dental ecosystem to serve Vietnamese abroad and international tourists.
Quy stated that the key lies not only in technology or materials, but also in comprehensive standardization—covering treatment protocols, production, case monitoring, and scientific evidence—to build trust and global credibility.
Over the past decade, Vietnam has elevated its dental services to world-class standards, attracting patients from countries like Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.
TechSci Research reports that over 100,000 medical tourists travel to Vietnam annually for advanced dental treatments, generating over $150 million in annual revenue for the industry.
