Del Mar College Offers Free Teeth Cleaning, X-Rays, and Dental Services for Coastal Bend Residents

Del Mar College’s (DMC) Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting Programs are offering free dental services this spring semester, giving Coastal Bend residents a chance to improve their oral health while students gain hands-on experience.

Services include teeth cleaning, X-rays, oral cancer screenings, fluoride treatments, selective polishing, dental sealants, periodontal assessments, and dental hygiene education. Additional services include medical history reviews, blood pressure screenings, and conservative periodontal therapy.

The Dental Hygiene Clinic operates Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. The Dental Assisting Clinic is open every Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Clinics will be closed during DMC’s Spring Break, March 9–14.

Eva Sepulveda, Director of DMC Dental Programs, said the clinics provide students with essential clinical training while fostering community service. “These clinics help students gain professional experience and give residents, especially those with limited resources, access to dental care at no cost,” she said.

All procedures are performed by students under faculty supervision, and some treatments may require multiple visits. Patient selection is based on educational and clinical requirements, with final approval made by DMC faculty after a qualifying appointment.
