ouro Dental School Hosts Free Clinics to Promote Kids’ Dental Checkups in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Just a year after making history as New Mexico’s first and only dentistry college, the Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) is hosting its first free dental clinics for children aged 16 and under this week.

The “post-Halloween” clinics offer free professional teeth cleanings and screenings for dental issues, all performed by students under the supervision of licensed faculty members.

“Everything is overseen by a licensed faculty member in the state of New Mexico,” said Joseph Parkinson, assistant dean at TCDM. “Every step is checked to ensure quality care, and patients who need preventive treatment receive it at no cost.”

Parkinson added that the initiative aims not only to support families but also to emphasize the importance of regular dental checkups.

Detecting and addressing dental problems early can help prevent more costly treatments later, he said.
