The Faculty of Dentistry at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has continued its long-running effort to promote oral health with the 42nd edition of its “Good Teeth, Happy Lives” campaign. The event took place on 28 November 2568 at Khon Kaen Pattanasueksa School in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province, and brought together teachers, students, parents, and local residents for a day focused on dental knowledge and accessible care.
The campaign was designed to strengthen public understanding of oral hygiene and to increase community access to dental services. Organisers offered both educational activities and free treatments, ensuring that participants received practical information along with hands-on care. This year, the Faculty also deployed its new mobile dental unit, which enabled students and nearby residents to access professional services directly on site. The unit played a central role in expanding outreach to people who often face barriers to dental care.
A warm and welcoming atmosphere characterised the event. Mr. Amphorn Onthuen, Director of Khon Kaen Pattanasueksa School, opened the programme with remarks expressing gratitude and support. He noted that the school was honoured to host the campaign and committed to providing full cooperation to ensure the activity delivered meaningful benefits to everyone involved.
Project President and dental student Ms. Napassanan Sinparu highlighted the broader vision of the initiative. She explained that the project aims to make dental health education easier to understand and more practical for everyday life. She added that the event also gives dental students the opportunity to gain real-world experience while serving their community.
Exhibitions, interactive learning stations, and a range of free clinical services—including fillings, extractions, and fluoride treatments—were offered by the Faculty’s Royal Dentist Unit. These services, she said, are especially valuable for residents who may lack regular access to dental professionals.
Samran Subdistrict Municipality Mayor Mr. Yuttapoom Yensabai presided over the official opening ceremony. In his remarks, he encouraged participants to take advantage of the presence of dental experts, emphasising that proper knowledge is essential for maintaining long-term oral health. He urged attendees to ask questions, seek advice, and apply what they learned at home.
The campaign drew enthusiastic participation from parents and students. Many expressed appreciation for the opportunity to receive both education and free care. Ms. Sangduean, a parent who attended the event, said she was pleased to see a programme that directly benefits children. She noted that the dental checks and guidance provided were helpful and expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue. A student from the host school shared her excitement as well, saying she enjoyed learning new ways to care for her teeth and felt more confident after receiving treatment.
Now in its 42nd year, the “Good Teeth, Happy Lives” campaign demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the KKU Faculty of Dentistry to improving public oral health. The initiative also highlights the value of cooperation among educational institutions, communities, and local authorities. Through such collaborative efforts, the Faculty continues to support sustainable improvements in dental wellbeing while fostering strong connections with the people it serves.
