Mobile Dental Vans Bring Exams, Cleanings, and Health Screenings to Valley Springs and San Andreas

San Andreas, CA – Calaveras County residents can access free dental care this week as mobile clinics travel to multiple community locations. Despite disruptions from recent storms, organizers are ensuring services remain available to people of all ages.

Today, February 24, 2026, the mobile dental van is stationed at the San Andreas Central Library, providing walk-in appointments until 5 p.m. Local Medi-Cal dental outreach representatives will be on-site to share information about dental benefits, preventive care, and resources available to residents.

The mobile clinic offers a broad range of services. Patients can receive dental exams, X-rays, professional cleanings, sealants, fluoride varnish applications, fillings, and simple tooth extractions. These free services are open to anyone, regardless of age or insurance status, making them especially valuable for families and underserved residents.

The mobile dental van continues its outreach in Valley Springs, visiting Head Start and Early Head Start project sites on Wednesday, February 25, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Children and their families can receive care on a walk-in basis, with no prior appointments required. On Friday, February 27, the clinic will be stationed at the elementary school at 240 Pine Street, off Highway 12, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Valley Springs locations will also provide additional health services beyond dental care. Residents can take advantage of blood pressure screenings, A1C testing for diabetes monitoring, asthma support, and fluoride varnish applications.

Organizers say this integrated approach ensures families receive comprehensive preventive care in a single visit.

County health officials emphasize that these mobile clinics are part of ongoing efforts to improve access to healthcare while supporting the community’s recovery from recent storms. “We want to remove barriers to essential dental and health care services,” said a spokesperson for the program. “Bringing care directly to where people live and learn makes it easier for everyone, especially children, to maintain good oral and overall health.”

Community members are encouraged to visit the mobile clinics during the posted hours. With no appointment necessary, the program is designed to accommodate busy schedules and provide accessible care for those who might otherwise face challenges traveling to a traditional dental office.

These events reflect a growing trend in mobile healthcare delivery, which has proven effective in reaching underserved populations. By combining preventive dental care with broader health screenings, Calaveras County aims to reduce long-term health disparities and improve quality of life for residents of all ages.
