Align Technology (NASDAQ: ALGN) has introduced ClinCheck Live Plan, a feature that automates the creation of initial, doctor-ready Invisalign? treatment plans in about 15 minutes.
The company says the tool shortens the treatment-planning cycle from days to minutes and is a major step forward for its Align Digital Platform.
ClinCheck Live Plan uses Align’s proprietary data, algorithms and clinical templates derived from decades of research and the experience of doctors who have treated more than 21 million Invisalign patients worldwide.
Doctors who submit an eligible case with an iTero intraoral scan and a completed Flex Rx prescription can opt to receive a fully customized initial ClinCheck? plan roughly 15 minutes later.
The system automatically applies a doctor’s preconfigured clinical preferences—such as an Invisalign? Personalized Plan—then runs quality checks before returning the 3D plan for review.
Doctors can review proposed tooth movements and approve the plan while the patient is still in the office, potentially speeding treatment start times and improving office efficiency and patient experience.
“ClinCheck Live Plan marks a significant point in Align’s multi-year initiative to reimagine the Invisalign digital treatment planning experience, with the aim of improving practice growth and efficiency—giving more time back to doctors,” said Sreelakshmi Kolli, executive vice president and chief product and digital officer.
Align noted growing adoption of its Flex Rx workflow. Use of Invisalign Flex Rx has doubled annually in recent years, and more than 1 million Invisalign cases have been submitted through Flex Rx to date for personalized treatment plans.
The company said ClinCheck Live Plan builds on several recent innovations in its ClinCheck suite, including:
2020–2022: Launch of cloud-based ClinCheck? Pro 6.0 and automated Invisalign? Personalized Plan templates.
2022: Introduction of the one-page Flex Rx form and ClinCheck Live Update for real-time 3D doctor modifications.
2024: Addition of Plan Editor, enabling doctors to modify treatment approaches in real time.
Align described the new feature as part of broader progress in automation and machine learning that will underpin its next-generation treatment-planning offerings.
