Taiwan Maintains Dental Insurance Premiums at 5.17% for 2026

Taiwan’s National Health Insurance (NHI) premiums will remain unchanged in 2026, the National Health Insurance Committee announced.

Speaking at a media briefing in Taipei, executive secretary Ms. Chou Shuwan confirmed that the general premium rate will stay at 5.17%. She added that NHI reserves are expected to cover about two months of expenditures by the end of 2026, exceeding the legal minimum of one month.

The committee, which includes representatives from government agencies, healthcare providers, and labor groups, oversees the NHI’s financial planning and premium-setting.

Next year’s total NHI budget will reach NT$988.3 billion ($32 billion), with all four sectors granted the maximum approved growth rate of 5.5%.

The allocation includes NT$685.3 billion for hospitals, NT$186.2 billion for primary care clinics, NT$58.3 billion for dental services, and NT$36.4 billion for traditional Chinese medicine. Other related expenditures will total NT$22 billion, up NT$1.1 billion from 2025.
