A 35-year-old Canadian mother of four, Jessika Chagnon Gailloux, has died following a tummy tuck and breast lift procedure in Antalya, Turkey.
According to multiple reports, Gailloux traveled from Quebec to Turkey with a friend on March 2 for the cosmetic surgeries. While the procedures were initially deemed successful, her condition deteriorated afterward, and she ultimately died despite medical efforts to save her.
Authorities say Gailloux’s friend, Stephanie Jobin, revealed that the two had reportedly used drugs three days before arriving in Turkey. It remains unclear where exactly the surgery took place or the precise location of her death. Her body was sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institution for an autopsy, and police have launched an investigation.
A police statement noted investigators are examining Gailloux’s health prior to the operation and her activities in the days leading up to her death. Authorities are also determining whether narcotics were involved.
Another woman, Ericka Dugas, who was reportedly with Gailloux in Turkey, set up a GoFundMe page for Gailloux’s children. Dugas said Gailloux suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest about 12 hours after surgery. “Medical teams attempted resuscitation, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful,” she wrote.
Gailloux shared a video on Facebook from Turkey on March 3. Friends and family have expressed their grief over her sudden passing. Her mother, Sonia Chagnon, wrote: “It is with a completely shattered heart that I inform you of the death of my daughter Jessika, my sunshine, my life.”
A close friend added, “Rest in peace, my beautiful friend … I’m speechless.”
