TICONDEROGA, N.Y. — A new dental clinic is set to be established in Ticonderoga to address a growing shortage of dental services across the North Country.
The Northern Border Regional Commission has awarded approximately $857,000 in federal funding to Hudson Headwaters Health Network to create a dental service at its Ticonderoga office. The clinic is intended to reduce long wait times for patients seeking care.
Once operational, the clinic is expected to serve about 1,500 patients. This will help reduce a waitlist of more than 5,000 people currently seeking dental care at Hudson Headwaters’ Warrensburg location.
Health officials say the lack of access to dental services has serious consequences for the community. Many residents, including children, are missing school and work, while others are forced to seek treatment in emergency rooms.
“The need is dramatic at this point,” said Pam Fisher, director of external affairs for Hudson Headwaters Health Network. “Providing greater access to dental services is critical for the overall health of our community.”
An opening date for the Ticonderoga clinic has not yet been announced. Hudson Headwaters also plans to open its Malone Family Health Clinic in early February.
